The rehabilitation of Largo de Vilarinho, in Macieira, was presented in a ceremony presided over by the Mayor, Dr. Elisa Ferraz, and by the President of the Parish Council of Macieira, Mr. Filipe Santos. The ceremony took place with the unveiling of the evocative plaque, followed by a blessing by the parish priest, Father Celestiano Ruas, and the usual interventions.
The Mayor expressed her satisfaction with the completion of this requalification that allowed the development of Largo de Vilarinho, which has a strong identity and a rich historical legacy, transforming it into a pleasant place that invites leisure and socializing for Macieirians. Dr. Elisa Ferraz also highlighted the great importance of this intervention due to the fact that it is a crossing point for those traveling from Vila do Conde, via national roads, to Maia, Trofa, Santo Tirso or Paços de Ferreira.
In turn, the Chairman of the Board reinforced his joy at the beauty and functionality of the work presented, praising all those who contributed to its completion, also leaving a word of thanks to the merchants in the area for the understanding shown throughout the execution of the work.
Also present at the event were the President of the Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Executive, members of the Board and the Parish Assembly, Presidents of the Board, various Associations/Institutions, which were joined by many people from Macieir. The ceremony ended with the participation of the S. Salvador de Macieira da Maia Folklore Group.
The requalification of Largo de Vilarinho was carried out within the scope of the solutions defined for the Urban Rehabilitation Area (ARU) of this parish and resulted in an investment of €470,000.00.
