Between March and June, on the first Sunday of the month, you can visit the most complete collection of modern Portuguese art to the sound of a diversified repertoire. The next concerts take place on the nave of the Modern Collection, but they allow the visitor to enjoy a true musical tour through all the galleries. The term ‘promenade’ (from the French ‘promenade’) began to be used in the 19th century in London to name the concerts in the gardens, during which the public could stroll while enjoying live music. In 2016, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum adopts this concept, transferring the usual Sunday concerts, previously held in the lobby of the Museum and Library, to the galleries, allowing the public to enjoy live music during their visit.
This initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Museum and the Music Service of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
