Architectural projects are sought for the Bairro das Artes, in Lisbon
Until August 16, the South Regional Section of the Order of Architects accepts submissions of intervention projects in the public space that promote contemporary art in the area between the Rat and Cais do Sodré.
Submissions are being made for proposals for intervention within the 9th edition of the Arts Quarter, to be held on September 20, at Sétima Colina, in Lisbon. The open call was launched by the South Regional Section of the Order of Architects (OASRS) and is aimed at projects whose main objective is to raise society’s awareness of the architecture and the theme underlying the Arts Quarter.
Created in 2010 by the association “Isto Não É Um Cachimbo”, the Bairro das Artes annually aims to promote contemporary art in the area between Rato and Cais do Sodré, where there is a greater concentration of galleries and spaces with artistic activities in Lisbon. The initiative marks the re-entry of Lisbon’s cultural programming, adding 39 spaces of the Seventh Hill in a “symbolic triangle” between the Arpad Szenes Museum, the set consisting of the Vieira da Silva Museum, the Júlio Pomar Atelier-Museum and the Contemporary Art Museum. the Chiado Museum.
Until 16 August, architects or multidisciplinary teams whose members are members of the Order of Architects may submit their proposals on the OASRS website. All the competing works will be exhibited in the gallery of the institution from 20 to 28 September 2018. The winning project receives a prize in the amount of 1500 euros and a financial support of another 2 thousand euros for the realization of the proposal.
