Armindo Araújo wins 6th stage of the Portuguese Rally Championship at Aboboreira
The winning pair scored five out of six possible victories in the fabulous earthen mountain classifications of the Terras D’Aboboreira Rally among the competitors that scored for the national, thus emphasizing their supremacy during this rally that took place in very different conditions than usual, practically without the presence of an audience in the specials and organization zones.
And if Friday was the Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux the only one to show that he was able to surpass Araújo, on Saturday and right at the start of the rally, a mistake when entering by way of one of the road controls when accessing the assistance park, dictated a penalty of two minutes that threw the Ford Fiesta team prepared by “M-Sport” out of the fight for victory.
Ricardo Teodósio, champion in title tried to keep up with Araújo’s pace, but only finished in second position, in front of a surprising Miguel Correia who guaranteed the climb to the lowest place on the podium in a rally that demonstrated a pace that proves a clear evolution in its competitiveness, and sharpens curiosity as to what the Braga driver may be able to demonstrate in the future.
Miguel Correia and António Costa, also in Skoda Fabia R5, thus ended the Terras D’Aboboreira Rally 59.7 seconds from the winners, and 27.3 seconds against Ricardo Teodósio.
In fourth place comes a resigned Bruno Magalhães who was unable to extract the necessary competitiveness from the Hyundai i20 R5 of “Team Hyundai Portugal” to respond to the progress of his most direct competitors, thus seeing the condition of Championship leader slip through his fingers. of Portugal of Rallies with which it had arrived to the departure for this race. Bruno and Carlos Magalhães finished more than a minute apart from the final time of the rally winners.
