Arrábida Sinfónica returns to ArrábidaShopping for the 5th edition

On September 11th, ArrábidaShopping will become the stage for several artists.

The Shopping Centre, together with Vila Nova de Gaia City Hall and Casa da Música, will host a special concert with free entrance in the North Exterior Square: the Arrábida Sinfónica. The 5th edition of the event is part of the “Cultura no Centro” initiative, Sonae Sierra’s project to support artists and cultural entities across the country through the centers managed by the group.

ArrábidaShopping will host a show presented by the Porto Symphonic Orchestra Casa da Música, directed by the principal conductor Stefan Blunier, which brings some of the most famous pages of the Italian operatic repertoire.

The Symphony Orchestra promises to transport the audience to the drama of Nabucco, King of Babylon, to a duel in a quiet Sicilian village, or even to a plot featuring the Ethiopian princess Aida. From the notable Finnish composer Jean Sibelius comes a score inspired by figures from Greek mythology, as well as two memorable pieces in which the composer’s love for his country stands out.

In the last 4 editions of Arrábida Sinfónica, the Shopping Center has already received more than 500 musicians, 4 conductors and 400 technicians. In addition, it impacted more than 17 thousand visitors.

For Tomás Furtado, director of ArrábidaShopping, “support for culture has always been part of the Center’s path, becoming even more relevant in a year in which the sector is so shaken due to the pandemic”. He also refers that “the concert also means a reinforcement of ArrábidaShopping’s will to provide a stage for local artists and others”.

Entrance is free, but requires a wristband at the information desk of the Shopping Center, on Floor 0, from September 3rd. The event will take place with the audience seated, mandatory to wear a mask and guarantees compliance with all safety measures stipulated by the General Directorate of Health and the government.
