MOONSPELL’s Tour 2024 starts today, which, once again, will take the band across borders, culminating at home, on October 26th, when they take the stage, for the first time in their name, at MEO Arena accompanied by from the Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra.
The first concert is at the Convento de S. Francisco, in Coimbra, the first in a series of 10 acoustic dates called Soombra and which, as with all of them, is on the verge of selling out!
MOONSPELL’s summer will be spent at the main metal festivals in Europe and, when they return to Portugal, they will probably give one of the most important concerts in the band’s career: MOONSPELL + Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa, on October 26th, at MEO Arena.
However, MOONSPELL fans should not be fooled, as the Soombra Tour and the latter could not be more different. Fernando Ribeiro, lead singer of the band, explains: “The concert at MEO Arena is MOONSPELL full power, purely electric and epic. The orchestra, with 45 musicians, will add even more weight and gravity to our repertoire and expect nothing less than a perfect storm between Heavy Metal and Classical Music in October. I want to see circle pits and mosh at MEO Arena and show the power of our audience to the maestro, his musicians and the whole world.”
With arrangements by Filipe Melo (author, composer and pianist), the Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra will be directed by Maestro Vasco Pearce de Azevedo and will perform emblematic MOONSPELL themes such as “Alma Mater”, “Fullmoon Madness” or “Vampiria”, but also a good part of the album “1755“, released in 2017 and dedicated to the Great Lisbon Earthquake, which became the best-selling heavy metal album in Portugal, upon its release. In these songs, a choir brought together by the band itself will appear on stage to invoke the era of the album.
For his first concert under his name at MEO Arena, in addition to normal tickets, physical collectable tickets are also available, just as was done in the past. Anyone who has already purchased a ticket has the possibility of purchasing a collectible, from the band’s merchandise, on the day of the show, for just €5 more. With the recording for future transmission and edition on DVD/Blu-Ray and LP, MOONSPELL takes, at 32 years of age, a giant step in their affirmation as the biggest Heavy Metal band ever in Portugal, by embracing the challenge of being headliners in the biggest concert hall in the country, something never done by any other national band of this style.
