Raising awareness of the need to preserve marine ecosystems was the motto for an activity that involved students from four eco-schools in the municipality in painting gutters and sinks in educational establishments.
The activity “The Sea starts here”, promoted by ABAE – Blue Flag Association of Europe, with the support of the municipality of Setúbal, took place during the months of June and July at EB Luísa Todi and EB n. Valencia Youth from LATI – League of Friends of the Elderly and at APPACDM.
With the painting of gutters and sinks at the school or in the surroundings, the objective was to convey to the educational community the message that everything that falls on the ground will end up in the sea, which is why it is necessary to adopt responsible behavior.
The drawings and messages were selected by the students who also made the paintings with materials provided by the Municipality of Setúbal.
The international Eco-Schools program, developed in Portugal since 1996 by the Blue Flag Association of Europe, aims to encourage and promote the school as a privileged place for environmental education and sustainability.
