The Festival that enchants Oeiras is back and promises a lot of music in the gardens of the Marquis, the first night was in charge of Juan Luis Guerra, Cristina Clara and Los Romeros, with the Latin rhythms, flamenco, fado and the rhythms of Cape Verde marking the night.

The joy of Los Romeros opens the first day

Formed in 2012, the group consists of Paula Carapeta (vocals), Alberto Pereira (guitar) and Jorge Piedade (percussion). They play a variety of musical genres, including flamenco, pop, rock and fado.

Los Romeros released two albums, Los Romeros in 2014 and A Decade with Los Romeros in 2022. They have toured extensively in Portugal and have been praised for their energetic live performances and captivating songs, which get everyone dancing and singing.

The talented singer and songwriter Cristina Clara was present on the Nortada stage, while the main stage was changed to the night star, born in the Minho region, taking traditional Portuguese music, fado and Brazilian and Cape Verdean rhythms to Oeiras.

She began her musical career while working as a cardiologist at the Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon, inspired by the traditional songs that her mother sang and fed by her love for poetry and performing arts, Cristina Clara is conquering her space in Portuguese music. Recently, we can see it at the Song Festival 2024, with the captivating song “Primavera” with lyrics of his own and music of the Cape Verdean composer and singer Jon Luz, in the second semifinal.

Her debut album, Lua Adversa, combines influences and sincere lyrics that captivate the audience from the first chord, Oeiras had the company of a group of “batoqueiras” from Cape Verde that took even more rhythm and joy to the Nortada stage.

Juan Luis Guerra ended the first day with a lot of light and joy

The Dominican musician, singer, composer and music producer was the star of the first night of the Festival and did not disappoint, Juan Luis Guerra arrived and spread joy to the sound of his songs.

“Burbujas de Amor”, “La Travesía”, “El Niágara em Bicicleta”, “Para Ti”, “Frutas Filho”, “Ojalá que llueva café”, “Bachata Rosa”, “Las Avispas”, “Eu Desvio”, “Cosas Así”, among many others, made this Dominican known throughout the world, and there were many who went to the Marquis Gardens to hear him sing them.

Juan Luis Guerra Seijas has sold over 15 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling Latin artists of all time. Guerra was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and started playing music at a young age. He studied music at the Santo Domingo Conservatory of Music and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Guerra’s career took off in the 1980s with the release of the albums Bachata Rosa in 1984 and Areyto in 1987. These albums helped popularize the bachata genre, a Dominican style of music that combines merengue and bolero.

Juan continued to edit successful albums including Ojalá que llueva café edited in 1992, Tenderness in 1994, Para ti in 1998 and 1A Vía edited in 2000. There are several awards won by Juan Luis Guerra, of which nine Latin Grammys and two Grammys stand out.

Guerra is known for his captivating and cheerful melodies, romantic lyrics and fusion of bachata with other musical genres, considered a national hero in the Dominican Republic, and is also one of the most important artists of Latin music ever, among the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame.
