Sonic Blast Fest announces Viagra Boys, Graveyard, Wine Lips and 11 more names for the lineup of its 12th edition. The festival returns to Praia da Duna dos Caldeirões, in Âncora, from August 8th to 10th, 2024.
The first batch of confirmed artists are Viagra Boys, Graveyard, Brant Bjork Trio, Wine Lips, Colour Haze, Truckfighters, 1000 mods, Maruja, Sunami, Home Front, Poison Ruïn, Sacri Monti, Deathchant and MДQUIИД.
Post-punk is honoured with the confirmation of headliners Viagra Boys, a Swedish band from 2015 who recently released the album Cave World (2022) and who see themselves as a mirror of the absurdity of existence and the mistakes of modern society, Sebastian Murphy’s band is characterized by its explosive and irreverent concerts. Still in the world of punk, Wine Lips, a Canadian band “fuzzy, noisy and fast. Wine Lips is a garage/punk/psychedelic band whose music feels like an injection of adrenaline in the heart.”
The batch of first confirmations also includes established stoner and psychedelic names, such as the Americans Brant Bjork Trio, for over 25 years at the epicentre of Californian desert rock; Colour Haze, German veterans and one of the most prestigious names in this subgenre, the band’s last appearance at the festival was in the 2017 edition; the Swedish Truckfighters and the Greek 1000 mods.
There is also room for new talents from the most varied styles: the heavy rock of Deathchant, the psychedelicism of Sacri Monti, the punk of Poison Ruïn, the hardcore of Sunami, the post-punk of Home Front, the experimental noise of Maruja and one of the most recent phenomena of the Portuguese rock scene, MДQUIИД who in 2023 jumped from almost anonymity to the lips of almost all heavy music lovers in Portugal.
General passes are now available for €90, a price that will be available until May 31, 2024. The general pass then increases to €100 from June 1, 2024.
