As redoma return in a confessional tone in the video for “2572”
This is the first single from the debut album set to be released in the first quarter of 2025
After debuting two years ago with the acclaimed EP parte, followed by the standalone single “delírios mensais” last year, as redoma is back with “2572”, the first track that anticipates the debut album to be released in the first quarter of 2025.
With each step they take, the Porto-based duo formed by Carolina Viana (MALVA) and Joana Rodrigues increasingly shows themselves interconnected in their musical expression. The rap instrumental, in a trip-hop cadence, with delicate use of textures and samples, cradles a voice that presents itself in an introspective tone. According to the vocalist, Carolina, “2572 is a raw reaction to an unwanted action. It is also a confession and a blunt apology, as the subject addressed has become plural over time.”
In a lo-fi and simple style, the music video accompanying the single visually reinforces the message of the song: projected images of Carolina take us on an inner journey that begins with a reaction but with no end in sight. In the middle lies virtue, on a path that is travelled in the discovery of who we are.
“2572” was written by Carolina Viana, and the production was handled by Joana Rodrigues. The video was directed by Carolina Viana and also produced by Joana Rodrigues and Diana Gil.
As redoma closes the concert cycle of this year with a performance at the cultural space SOMA (Braga) on November 9th.
