At Teatro Tivoli BBVA Christmas rhymes with ballet

The countdown began for Sergei Radchenko, the Russian ballet’s notable name, to perform at the Tivoli BBVA Theater in Lisbon, “Sleeping Beauty” and “Swan Lake”. Two ballets in which bewitched princesses and true kisses will offer our imagination the perfect gift.

Sergei Radchenko is one of the most important soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Moscow in the second half of the twentieth century. He graduated in 1944 from the Moscow Dance School, but it was in 1964 that he joined the Bolshoi Theater, where he worked for 25 years, where he danced all repertoires and earned a reputation without sharing in the world of ballet.

In 1989, he founded Moscow Festival ballet, Russia’s first independent classical ballet company, whose name was changed to the Russian National Ballet. His work as director of this company, accompanied by the talent of Elena Radchenko, ballerina, soloist and choreographer, made her become a company in one of the most recognized internationalization with a repertoire that includes Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Giselle, Suite Carmen, La Boyadere or Nutcracker, among many others.

In Portugal, Sergei Radchenko has been performing since 2013 in partnership with UAU always in December, thus anticipating the tradition of family Christmas.

A bewitched princess falls into a deep sleep and will only wake him when the perfect prince awakens her with a kiss of true love. Sleeping Beauty, a three-act ballet with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, libretto by Marius Petipa and Ivan Vsevolojsky, is an adaptation of Charles Perrault’s traditional tale “La Belle au bois dormant”, presented by Russian National Ballet by one of the most respectable soloists of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and an unavoidable reference of the Russian ballet, Sergei Radchenko, three decades ago with the aim of presenting the ballet classics around the world. In December at the Tivoli BBVA Theater.

With music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, libretto by Vladimir Begitchev and choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, the ballet tells the story of impossible love between a prince and a swan girl, highlighting the beloved theme of this period – the duality between good and evil. , represented by the purity of the white swan and the duplicity of the black swan. Featuring four acts, Swan Lake is performed by Sergei Radchenko’s Russian National Ballet, one of the most prominent soloists at the Bolshoi Theater.
