Atelier do Corvo and Eduardo Batarda are the winners of the AICA Awards
The distinction is attributed to Portuguese artists and architects who, due to their work and personal journey, make an excellent contribution to culture and art.
The Atelier do Corvo, founded by Carlos Antunes and Désirée Pedro, located in Miranda do Corvo, is highlighted by the jury for its unique practice in the field shared between architecture and fine arts, in which they seek to reflect and structure thinking about the notion of space and its relationship with the individual and with the aesthetic experience.
The course of Carlos Antunes and Désirée Pedro, linked to the direction and artistic programming at the Circle of Plastic Arts of Coimbra and to the Coimbra Biennial of Contemporary Art, reflects a constant questioning around the city and the territory, in a productive confrontation between architecture, the arts, culture, and heritage.
The AICA Awards have been awarded since 1981 and the winners of each category receive 10,000 euros.
The jury included Luísa Soares de Oliveira, Ana Anacleto, Bárbara Silva, Pedro Baía and was chaired by Sandra Vieira Jürgens.
