Climáximo activists block the road in front of the Museum of Natural History and Science

The group stopped traffic on Rua da Escola Politécnica, in front of the Museum of Natural History and Science, demanding that institutions face the truth and act in accordance with the climate emergency.

During a storm, Climáximo activists blocked traffic in front of the Museum of Natural History and Science, formerly the Faculty of Science, sitting and holding a banner reading “They are destroying everything you love”.

Leonor Canadas, agronomist and spokesperson on the spot, states that “there are millions of deaths declared due to the climate crisis, and they are to blame. Governments and broadcasting companies are currently killing thousands of people, dumping tens of millions, burning them alive, drowning them. These deaths were conscious. This is war. We have a duty to resist, and institutions to tell the truth.”

The group demands, as part of a program of demands based on science and past reports (empregos-clima.pt), honesty on the part of all institutions regarding the state of the climate crisis, entering into a climate emergency, recognizing it as a priority central to society, and acting in accordance with science. “We need to tell people the truth so we can make informed and honest decisions to stop climate breakdown.” To achieve this, within scientific deadlines and based on global justice, it is absolutely necessary to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 in Portugal, among an extensive group of measures available online, advances the collective.

“Climáximo invites everyone to participate in the next public lecture, and resist for life and everything they love.”
