Attila, the Crow is the new EP by Fritz Kahn and The Miracles, the musical project of Gonçalo Serras, a Portuguese musician and composer who continues to explore themes of resilience and introspection.
This EP, which arrives on digital platforms accompanied by the single “Milky Way”, represents a new phase in the artist’s career, who previously released two long-lasting albums – Jonah, The Whale (2021) and Gunthi (2024) -, marking a constant musical and thematic evolution in the universe of Fritz Kahn and The Miracles.
“Milky Way”, the release single, is a meditation on the sense of belonging and the search for a “home” that transcends physical barriers. Inspired by the cosmos and the stars, Gonçalo Serras evokes the vastness of the Milky Way as a space of hospitality and serenity, reflecting a personal and universal acceptance. With arrangements by Rúben Alves on piano and Miguel Amado on double bass, “Milky Way” fuses careful instrumentation with the introverted and deep voice of Serras, resulting in a melody that questions the complexity of human interactions and the constant search for mutual understanding.
The EP Attila, the Crow is composed of four tracks that emerge as the travel diary of an observer who seeks meaning in the details and resilience in small victories. The crow, the chosen symbol to name the EP, represents the cunning figure that “steals” the bright fragments it finds along the way. For Gonçalo, this image illustrates his own artistic and personal journey, marked by a spirit of survival, but also by the ability to find light in fleeting moments and simple human interactions. “I steal happy moments from those around me, like a crow that feeds on the brightness it finds. And I return them in the form of a song”, comments Serras about the concept of the new EP.
After more than two decades of career, Gonçalo Serras stands out for his ability to unite elements from genres such as jazz, rock and experimental music. In Fritz Kahn and The Miracles, he questions the boundaries between science and magic, influenced by the work of German-Jewish physician and scientist Fritz Kahn, who saw the human body as a perfect machine. This concept of the union between logic and mystery is the thread of the sound identity of Fritz Kahn and The Miracles, an exploration of harmonic layers that capture the existential question and complexity of human emotions.
The musician’s career was marked by moments of great recognition, such as the honourable mention in the International Songwriting Competition, but also by a deep period of self-exploration and inner search. After a first-stage career that led him to stages such as the Super Bock Super Rock Festival and the Casa da Música, Gonçalo Serras temporarily moved away from major productions to dedicate himself to music in more intimate environments, evolving your style and deepening your project. Attila, the Crow is the latest affirmation of this path, where the artist emerges with a mature and transparent vision, translating into music the depth of his experiences and questions.
The EP Attila, the Crow and the single “Milky Way” are now available on all digital platforms, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a musical narrative that offers both logic and charm, in the continuous search of Fritz Kahn and The Miracles for the balance between the rational and the poetic.
