Auditions for “A madrugada que eu esperava” by Bárbara Tinoco and Carolina Deslandes
candidaturas abertas até ao dia 1 de Setembro
Bárbara Tinoco and Carolina Deslandes make their debut in composing music for theater and star in the musical“A madrugada que eu esperava” (“A Dawn que eu expected”), applications are open for auditions until the 1st of September, which will take place on the 25th and 26th of September in Lisbon.
The public is already used to seeing them together, Bárbara Tinoco and Carolina Deslandes have shared the stage several times over the last few years, starring in some of the most emblematic moments in the recent history of Portuguese music, or if they weren’t two of its most representative voices, a place achieved thanks to the undeniable (and inexhaustible) talent in writing and performing songs and mirrored in the prolific career they have been building in their own name.
In 2024, they are preparing to take a step forward in their careers as they tread another path in their joint journey, through the representation and writing of music for theatre, giving wings to an old dream: “Musical theater brings together two of the things that most like in life: songs and stories. It is the visual component to accompany the imagery of the song to the second. That’s why we always had this desire to build something that would give us the freedom to sing about characters, that would allow us to present this universe on stage”, reveals Carolina Deslandes. For her part, Bárbara Tinoco reinforces the importance of a universe of common passions and affinities, in stimulating the creation of this project, along with the desire to explore new artistic territories: “From here to the idea of creating a musical was just a step, especially at a time when Carolina began to show an interest in exploring acting and my old dream of composing a soundtrack also began to gain more space.” It should be remembered that, while this will be the debut of Bárbara Tinoco as an actress, Carolina Deslandes took the first steps in representation in 2021 with the show A Nova Cinderela no Gelo.
“A madrugada que eu esperava” starts from an original idea, written by Hugo Gonçalves, author of several novels, including Filho da Mãe and Deus Pátria e Família and scriptwriter for numerous television series, namely the recently successful “Rabo de Fish”. The staging will be in charge of Ricardo da Rocha and the songs will be written by four hands by Deslandes and Tinoco, in a co-production Força de Produção and Primeira Linha. The name of the show, taken from the 25th of April, one of the most famous poems by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, lifts the veil over the story that will be taken to the stage in the year that celebrates, precisely, 50 years of the Carnation Revolution.
