Austria beat Northern Macedonia 3-1 in the opening game of Group C of Euro’2020 in a game played in Bucharest, Romania.
Although favourites Austria had to strive to win the game, the first goal was scored by Lainer after a cross to the millimetre of Sabitzer, in the 18th minute.
Northern Macedonia, however, restored the tie in the 28th minute, in a confusing move that left Pandev in front of goal and the 37-year-old forward did not miss, a result that ended the first half.
In the second half, the match remained balanced, but Austria’s victory would come off the bench, Michael Gregoritsch and Marko Arnautovic, first Gregoritsch and then Arnautovic, at the finish of the game, gave Austria the victory.
