António Casalinho was one of the six young finalists distinguished with scholarships for the 49th edition of the award, which initially competed 82 candidates, of these, 78 reached the competitive phase and 20 accessed the final, which took place by video.
The Contemporary Interpretation Award was awarded by the jury to António Casalinho and the Brazilian dancer Rui Cesar Cruz.
Among the six youngsters awarded a scholarship is also the Brazilian dancer Andrey Jesus Maciano, who was also awarded the Best Young Talent Award.
The six awarded scholarships will have the possibility to choose a school or dance company that is a partner of the Prix de Lausanne.
The jury was chaired this year by Richard Wherlock, director and choreographer of Ballet de Bâle.
Portuguese dancers António Casalinho, Francisco Gomes and Laura Viola had been selected for the international ballet competition Prix de Lausanne, among candidates from twenty countries.
The three Portuguese selected are from the International Conservatory of Ballet and Dance Annarella Sánchez, in Leiria.
