Banda de Angeja performs a solidarity concert in favour of the victims of the fires

Integrated in the cycle Bands in Concert, the Band of the Association of Education and Recreation Angejense (AIRA) will take the stage of the Alba Film Theater, in Albergarria-a-Velha, this Sunday, November 24, at 5:00 pm, in a show of solidarity, in which the public is invited to bring non-perishable food to help people victims of the September fires.

Accompanying the 60 musicians of the Banda de Angeja, will be Miguel Rodrigues, a singer of classical vocal music, pianist, conductor and composer, who has participated in recitals and concerts throughout the country, both solo and in instrumental groups. The concert’s repertoire, under the direction of Maestro Paulo Almeida, proposes a journey through Europe, without forgetting the Christmas songs of the era that is coming.

The program includes works “Steel Overture”, by Jose A. Pina; “Cassiopeia” by Carlos Marques; “Via Aurelia” by Sven van Calster; “The Ludlows” by James Horner; “Morricone’s Melody” by Roland Kernen; “Oh Holy Night”, by Philip Sparke; “Adeste Fideles” (Traditional Christmas); “Contradanças de Vilela”, by Vítor Resende; and “Pela Lei Pela Grei”, by Raul Cardoso.

At 157 years old, the Band of the Association for Education and Recreation Angejense continues today, as yesterday, to provide musical moments of great quality. The youth of its members, trained in the music school, combines the centuries-old experience of an institution that has been able to honour the culture of Angeja.

Admission to the concert is free, upon collection of tickets and room occupancy.
