It has just been announced that the soundtrack for the thrilling conclusion to Universal Pictures’ global cinematic phenomenon, Wicked, titled “Wicked: For Good – The Soundtrack,” will be released on November 21. The film hits theatres nationwide the day before.
Stephen Schwartz said of the soundtrack: “I’m especially thrilled that the ‘Wicked: For Good’ soundtrack album features so many new songs. In addition to two completely new songs, there are many new takes on several existing songs. So, both listeners discovering the music for the first time and longtime fans of the original Broadway cast will have plenty to discover.”
Wicked: For Good – The Soundtrack follows last year’s acclaimed and landmark release, Wicked: The Soundtrack, which recorded the biggest opening weekend ever for a film adaptation of a stage musical and the best sales week for any soundtrack this decade.
Wicked: For Good – The Soundtrack, with music and lyrics by legendary Grammy and Oscar®-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, will include two new original themes featured in the film: “No Place Like Home,” performed by Grammy winner and three-time Oscar® nominee Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and “The Girl In The Bubble,” performed by Grammy winner and Oscar®-nominated Ariana Grande as Glinda. Additionally, the soundtrack will include the theme “The Wicked Witch of the East,” which was not included on the original Broadway cast albums.
The new soundtrack will be released in multiple formats, including CD, vinyl (2LPs), double picture disc, and digitally.
