Barbara Bandeira releases the music video for “Mais”

single-take film video inspired by Marina Abramovic and Ulay

After presenting the first chapter of her new project, Lusa: act I, Bárbara Bandeira revealed on Friday the video for “Mais”, now available on YouTube.

Recorded on film and in a single sequence shot, the video for “Mais” is an exercise in surrender and emotional tension, inspired by the performance “Rest Energy” (1980) by Marina Abramovic and Ulay. A camera that pans around the environment, a bow, an arrow pointed at the chest — and the body as a space of vulnerability, courage and confidence.

In this new artistic gesture, Bárbara Bandeira reaffirms the aesthetic ambition of “Lusa” and takes her visual language to new territories, exploring the limits of presence, silence and suspension. The simplicity of the execution amplifies the intensity of the moment: here, less is “Mais”.

The premiere of this music video also comes in the wake of the launch event of Lusa: act I, an immersive and sensorial dinner that took place at the iconic Palácio da Trindade, in Lisbon, and which brought together 60 personalities from the Portuguese creative universe — from music to fashion, from journalism to art.

The dinner, designed by chef João Magalhães, was divided into six tasting moments carefully designed to translate the intention of each song in Lusa: act I. Among surprising flavours, each dish was a sensorial interpretation of the lyrics and emotions of this first act. The atmosphere was completed by a cocktail bar designed by Frederico Falcão, decor by Bengie Project and glam by YSL and Redken, to the delicate sound of a live harp.

Lusa: act I is now available on all digital platforms and marks the beginning of a journey divided into four acts, in which Bárbara Bandeira explores new languages, expands her sound and builds bridges between Portugal and Brazil. With collaborations from Veigh, WIU and EU.CLIDES, this first act crosses Afro, Trap and Urban Pop in an emotional and cinematic universe.

Mais” is the third video revealed from this first act, after “Fumaça” (feat. Veigh) and “Não Gosta”. The remaining videos will be released in the coming weeks.
