The nomination of Bárbara Bandeira for the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) 2024 in the category of Best Portuguese Act has just been announced.
Following the official announcement this morning, the voting period also began, which will take place online on the EMA website until 21:59 (local time) on November 6, allowing the public to participate in choosing the award winner.

This nomination reinforces Bárbara Bandeira’s status as one of the most influential and successful artists in Portugal, continuing the successful trajectory that has seen her break records and achieve various accolades. Among the most recent achievements are the nine platinum certifications for the single “Como Tu,” the most listened-to song in Portugal in 2023, now on its way to achieving Diamond certification, an unprecedented feat for a Portuguese female artist.
In 2024, Bárbara Bandeira cemented her top position in the music scene, accumulating 14 Platinum certifications among her most recent singles. The artist also has an impressive list of awards, highlighted by the recent distinction of Best Female Artist at this year’s PLAY Awards. It should also be noted that Bárbara Bandeira was previously nominated for the Best Portuguese Act category at the MTV EMA in 2022, where she was the big winner that year.

The last few months have also represented the expansion of the artist’s international career with the release of the single “Fumaça,” a collaboration with Brazilian trapper Veigh. This partnership, the first between Bárbara Bandeira and a Brazilian artist, is the first chapter of a broader project that will explore the artist’s special connection to the brother country, featuring contributions from key names in Brazilian music. More details will be revealed soon, with surprises in store.
This year, the MTV EMA 2024 ceremony will take place in Manchester, England, on November 10. Voting is open, and the artist’s fans can already help secure another historic victory.
