Bárbara Timo (-70 Kg) finished the Judo World Championships in Budapest in 9th place.
The Portuguese judoka made her debut in the second round, where she beat Kazakh Moldir Narynova (81st in the ranking), but in the round of 16 she ended up being defeated by the Irish Megan Fletcher, 24th in the world ranking. Bárbara Timo finished her performance in 9th place.
On Wednesday Anri Egutidze won the bronze medal in the -81 kg category, the best Portuguese result so far, followed by Joana Ramos’ 5th place and Telma Monteiro’s 7th position (-57 kg).
Today, the athletes of the -78 kg female and -100 kg male categories enter into action. World Champion Jorge Fonseca is the only Portuguese representative in action, starting to defend his title in the second round, where he will face the winner of the bout between Mathias Madsen (48th), from Denmark, and Muzaffarbek Turoboyev (45th), from Uzbekistan.
