Bárbara Tinoco, the Great Concert in Lisbon

Coliseu dos Recreios

It was, perhaps, the night of affirmation and consecration for Bárbara Tinoco, the 22-year-old Lisbon singer who stepped onto the Coliseu stage for the first time for the presentation of her first album, ‘Desallinhados‘.

In a sweet, melodious and expressive voice, Barbara snatched the hearts of all who attended the call. The Coliseum was full to hear this little (as she mentioned she is only 1.59m tall) great artist.

João Paulo Sousa, from Radio Comercial, arrived due to a “technical problem” to introduce the artist, talk a little about her: “she participated in The Voice, not having turned any chair of the mentors, reveals that it was Pedro Barbosa, his manager, who first believed in her, and yet she only had 2 songs and this one already promised her the Coliseum stage”.

Stars” followed by “Outras Línguas” were the first two themes that served to “grab” the audience.

Sympathetic, she knew how to win the support of the audience, who sang whenever she asked them to, with “Sei Lá”, the space was full of stars, the audience was enraptured and she thanked her, coming down from the stage and singing among them.

A Fugir de Ser”, “Diz-me o que é que Fizeste”, “Noutra Vida”, “Sei Lá”, “Devia Ir were other songs heard.

According to Barbara, “with she everything is backwards, even backwards. She says she made an EP with amazing artists, that she was very lucky, everyone said yes, she didn’t have to beg and some of them became great friends, one of those songs is the “Lawyer” that he did with Carlão, he laughs and says “that the chorus is inspired by a cereal ad that says, does anyone remember?!? Don’t look at me like that, I don’t mean to give it to you and If I bring you a cow milk me (lots of laughter), Barbara continues and also mentions that this is her father’s favourite song from the entire EP which is scary (more laughter)“.

The singer’s first guest was Carolina Deslandes, who enters the stage in a wheelchair (because she broke her foot), both reveal that the two songs she will sing next were written at Carolina’s house and they did them just because, and of course, there are two love songs, “Querido ex-Namorado” and “Supermercado”, the first is by Barbara and the second by Carolina.

João Paulo was “interrupting” the artist throughout the concert, either to ask permission to enter a “girl” who really wanted to talk to Barbara (he was referring to Carolina Deslandes), now to tell her that he had to introduce her band, as well as to tell her that he had to do the thanks, João Paulo unfolded a huge list of thanks on stage.

Conversas Sérias”, reveals the singer’s second guest, Tyoz, who, sitting in the middle of the audience, surprises the Coliseum by singing to each other.

The night continues with Gisela”, “O Teu Namorado”, “Uma Loira”, “A Cidade” and “Tragédia “.

Barbara is a young woman who loves her family, on stage she tells stories, some happy, some amusing, others sad. “Carta de Guerra”, is the love story of her grandparents; Grandmother was in the Coliseu and about Barbara says she is quite proud; “Para o Rafael e Para a Maria Vitória” is a sad example, the tribute she pays to her cousin and a girl who lived in her street, who are no longer with us.

Barbara thanks everyone for going to see the concert, saying “Thank you so much for coming. Three years ago I was just a girl who wrote songs in her bedroom…thanks for filling this room, you don’t know how special it is to me.

I made a record, which I didn’t know I was making a record, which is a diary that you’re all reading… I hope these songs tell you something, I hope my music is with you at all times….

As for the Tinoco hymn and the Tinoco family already on stage, the artist says “… Listening to this record, you know who I am, who my family is. And we have a family tradition, on birthdays, at Christmas, we all get together and make a song to make fun of someone who has been with us… and so we made the Tinoco’s Anthem, and in this the artist is interrupted by the father who tells her that they asked and insisted not to bring them to the stage, but since they are there, he informs her that she forgot a small detail about the family tradition is that this is a surprise and so (we see Barbara getting upset) the Anthem dos Tinoco was no longer one, so he apologizes to the Coliseu but tells him that they have another song prepared, named “Os Accusadores”.

It was a very beautiful moment, full of tenderness, that surprised Barbara and that showed very well her complicity with her family.

About Bárbara Tinoco, we can say that she is a handful of composers, despite being young she has very mature lyrics, full of meaning, she is a voice with a soul.

Bárbara has already sung with João Só, doing the first part of his concerts, with Carlão, António Zambujo, Diana Martinez, Bárbara Bandeira or Tiago Nacarato.

A concert not to be missed from this one that is a rising star in the Portuguese music scene.
