Barry Can’t Swim confirmed at NOS Alive’25
Barry Can’t Swim arrives at the Passeio Marítimo de Algés to perform on the Heineken Stage of NOS Alive’25—the Scottish producer and DJ debuts at the festival on the first day, July 10.
Barry Can’t Swim, the stage name of Joshua Mainnie, is a Scottish producer whose music combines global influences and a progressive approach with jazz and electronic elements. Born in Edinburgh, he learned music on a piano rescued by his grandfather. From an early age, he was obsessively devoted to art, playing in bands and studying music at university. Inspired by the UK electronic scene, with names like Jamie xx and Daniel Avery, he began incorporating the fundamentals of piano, guitar and drums into electronic production.
In 2020, he released his first independent album, Because I Wanted You To Know, winning over fans with its unique sound. In 2021, he signed with Ninja Tune and released the EP More Content, which put him among the most promising electronic artists on the scene. Your debut album, When Will We Land? (2023), was a critical and commercial success, leading it to the top of the UK charts and receiving nominations for the Mercury Prize and the BRIT Awards. At the same time, he evolved from club DJ to live artist, performing in sold-out concerts and festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury.
In 2024, Barry released “Still Riding”, his biggest single to date, and is preparing to step onto the Heineken Stage on July 10, continuing to consolidate himself as one of the most exciting and innovative figures in today’s electronic music.
