Belcanto by José Avillez rose in the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world, now occupying the 25th place, and is the only Portuguese restaurant on the @theworlds50best 2023 list.
The announcement was made yesterday, in Valencia, during the award ceremony for “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” 2023.

It is a very important recognition for us, the Belcanto team, and also for Lisbon and Portugal: This distinction contributes to the promotion of Portuguese cuisine in the world and reinforces the value of our country as a gastronomic and tourist destination.”

Belcanto by José Avillez opened in 2012 and that same year was awarded a Michelin star. In 2014, it received its second Michelin star. In 2019, and as part of its evolution, Belcanto moved to a new, larger space, adjacent to the original one, maintaining its proximity to Largo de São Carlos and its privileged location.
