Benfica beats Ajax and is in the final of the Youth League

This Saturday, Benfica’s youth guaranteed their presence in the Youth League final, after beating the Dutch team Ajax 3-0 in the semi-finals. The reds had no difficulties and returned to guarantee a place in the final of the race.

In a match played at the Colovray Sports Center, in Nyon, Switzerland, Tiago Araújo opened the scoring for Clube da Luz already on the verge of whistle for the break. The young winger filled his foot and, with a great shot, shot to 1-0 in favor of the reds.

During the complementary stage, the team led by Luís Castro expanded the advantage in the 75th minute through Embaló. After a corner kick, Ajax’s defensive drove the ball away and the Benfica winger, without dropping the ball, threw a new missile into the back of the opponent’s net.

It only took another four minutes for Tiago Dantas to seal the final result. Luís Lopes avoided the mark, Douglas stretched his leg and crawled the footballer inside the area. In the collection of the maximum punishment, Dantas did not waste and put even more certainties in the victory of the club of Luz.

Thus, Benfica goes on to the third presence in the finals of the UEFA Youth League, where they will face the opponent Real Madrid, who this afternoon eliminated the Swiss from Salzburg.

Benfica will play for the third time in the final of this junior competition, on the following Tuesday, after having been beaten by Barcelona and Salzburg, in 2013/14 and 2016/17, respectively.
