Everywhen is the title of Best Youth’s new album and its stage debut will take place in January 2024. A new show that marks the group’s return to Teatro Maria Matos and in which Catarina Salinas and Ed Rocha Gonçalves explore his imagination, this time based on the concept of “time”.
From the eleven songs that make up Everywhen, the duo conceived a show that aims to integrate the public into a musical and visual experience in which it appeals to the suspension of time, in an antithesis to what will be experienced outside the walls of Maria Matos. The song that gives the title to the new record is the trigger for this purpose – a theme in which reverse mode is confused with the march of clock hands, in which the past mixes with what is to come, making this new dynamic present something liberating and challenging.
The songs that will be part of the line-up of this new show will combine just that: a sound crossover in which the most recent “Back With A Bang”, “Cool Kids” or “Out Of Time”, will intertwine with those that inhabit our imagination and which are the unmistakable mark of Best Youth, such as “Midnight Rain”, “Mirrorball” or “Hangout”.
On stage, only Ed and Kate delve deeper into the unique place they occupy in national music, making Everywhen a new step in exposing their creativity and originality.
