Bicycle stock sold out in Portugal at the end of July

The stock of bicycles sold out in Portugal at the end of last July, thanks to an unbridled demand from the Portuguese for that product, which grew 500% after the lack of definition, KuantoKusta (KK) revealed today after an analysis of the demand/acquisition of this type of vehicle between May and late July.

According to the largest price comparator in Portugal, the main cause is the fear of contagion by Covid-19, but it is also one of the preferred options for the Portuguese to keep in shape and avoid the gyms.

We believe that we are looking at a product with new fans and that in itself mobilizes new attitudes, especially for its ecological and healthy characteristics”, says Paulo Pimenta, CEO of KK.

The analysis dictates a new trend in terms of preference for means of transport, and this demand reveals that the bicycle is not only a safer form of travel, but is also a great alternative for everyone who wants to avoid indoor sports.

The analysis also informs that the mountain bike models (all-terrain), versatile and adapted to the tread on all types of floors, are the most sought after by male customers, of the age group between 25 and 44 years old, and confirms that the trend is here to stay.

“Demand will continue to increase in the coming months, with a slowdown in the winter months. But the emergence of public initiatives to encourage this type of displacement shows that demand will continue to be high”, anticipates the same official.
