In its 3rd edition, the Biennial of Illustration of Guimarães (BIG) registered the highest number of entries, with 126 authors submitting their works for evaluation.
The 65 authors selected for the BIG National Prize, of the 3rd edition of the Biennial of Illustration of Guimarães, are already known, competing with a total of 182 works, which will be shown in a group exhibition to be inaugurated on September 11, at Vila Flor Palace, within the scope of the programming of BIG – Guimarães Illustration Biennial. This year, the highest number of entries was also reached, with 126 authors submitting their works, a significant increase compared to the 2019 edition. Each author was able to submit three works published in the last three years.
This nationwide competition is aimed at artists who develop their professional activity in the fields of press illustration, books and cultural posters. The selected authors and works compete for prizes: BIG Grand Prix, consisting of a diploma and a monetary value of €5,000 (five thousand euros), BIG Revelation Prize, consisting of a diploma and a monetary value of €1,000 (one thousand euros), 5 BIG Acquisition Awards, consisting of a diploma and a monetary value of €500 (five hundred euros), each. The winners and the constitution of the jury, responsible for the selection of works and deliberations, will be known at the opening of the collective exhibition and awards ceremony scheduled for September 11th.
