BILOBA releases “Quando For Para Ir”

new single in anticipation of debut album

BILOBA presents “Quando For Para Ir”, the fourth lead single from their debut album, Sala de Espera, scheduled for release in March.

After songs like “Flor de Verão”, “Se Deus Demora” and “Rei dos Animais”, the Lisbon band continues to explore the crossover between alternative rock, jazz and hip-hop, always anchored in a strong authorial and lyrical component.

“Quando For Para Ir” was born from the need to express a collective concern. Francisco Nogueira, bassist and vocalist of the band, composed the song at a time of uncertainty, translating the feelings of many who cannot achieve financial independence and stability in their own country. The dilemma between leaving and staying, the weight of the housing crisis and the feeling of being uprooted run through the song, which is seen as a generational outburst.

“I quickly realized that the people around me could relate to these lyrics. Even though I wrote them, the song wasn’t mine – it was a cry for help from many people who can’t find a place to live here. Whether it’s because of the housing crisis or other issues, whether with themselves or with others,” explains the author of the song.

With an engaging melody and a chorus that echoes the longing for an uncertain future, the song reflects a feeling that is as Portuguese as it is universal: that of having to leave to build something, even against the will to abandon what is familiar to us.

“When It’s Time to Go also seems to me to be something very Portuguese: the knowledge that ‘what has to be done must be done’, even when resisting what seems inevitable. This half-state, this complaint, is something very much ours”, adds Francisco Nogueira.

Produced by Francisco Nogueira and Diogo Lourenço, the song was recorded at Bela Flor Studios by Eduardo Vinhas, with mixing and mastering by Tiago de Sousa. In addition to Francisco Nogueira’s voice and bass, BILOBA is formed by Nazaré da Silva (vocals), Simão Bárcia (guitar), Diogo Lourenço (guitar) and Miguel Fernández (drums).

The single is now available on all digital platforms, accompanied by a music video that translates into images of the dilemma of departure and the feeling of displacement.
