BLACKPINK were named Artist of the Year by “Time” magazine

South Korean quartet released their hit album “BORN PINK” this year

BLACKPINK has just been chosen by the prestigious magazine “Time” as Artist of the Year. The publication notes that the quartet managed to become “the biggest girl group in the world by allowing its members, Jisoo, Rosé, Jennie, and Lisa, to be solo stars in their own right”.

The magazine also highlights the performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where they performed the hit single “Pink Venom”, as well as the world tour that began in October and ends in June 2023, which should have more than 1.5 million of people.

This year, the group released the album “BORN PINK”, which not only topped the national sales charts but also reached number one on the Billboard Top 200 in the US.

BORN PINK” is powered by the record-breaking singles “Shut Down” and “Pink Venom which topped Billboard’s Global 200 and debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs Chart, accumulating 7.9 million streams on first 24 hours.

The official video for the song amassed 90.4 million global views in the first 24 hours. This was, therefore, the biggest debut for JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ, and LISA to date, the biggest female release (group or solo) of this decade, and the third biggest debut in 24 hours of all time.

In Portugal, the video for “Pink Venom” went directly to #1 on YouTube’s top trends. “Shut Down” entered #2 of trends on the same platform.
