Bragança creates Emergency Fund to Support Microenterprises

The Municipality of Bragança created an Emergency Fund to Support Business, in the amount of half a million euros, with the objective of mitigating the economic impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on micro-enterprises (less than 10 workers), based in the municipality of Bragança.

The maximum amount of support is 1,500 euros, and the measure covers entrepreneurs who exercise their activity individually or as managing partners of commercial companies, which have not exceeded, in 2019, a turnover of one hundred thousand euros and, exclusively, to entrepreneurs whose gross family income under IRS has not exceeded, in 2018, the value of thirty thousand euros.

This fund is intended to support the catering and similar sectors, trade in retail goods and certain service providers, which have been forced to close by decision of the Government, and the beneficiaries of the support granted are obliged to maintain the posts of work, allocated to the respective establishments, until December 31, 2020.

According to Hernâni Dias, Mayor of Bragança, “this fund is part of the strategy carried out by this municipality since the beginning of the pandemic, through the implementation of several measures, in order to safeguard the income of citizens and companies, as well as the respective jobs, strongly penalized by the closure during the State of Emergency. It is, therefore, a measure that aims to leverage the local economy and in particular the maintenance of small businesses”.
