It is certain that the name of this new single by Mariana Aleixo, “Braille,” refers to the way of reading by visually impaired people.
The artist explains to us better what the intention is: “Yes! The Braille system is a tactile writing system, therefore it relates to the sense of touch, using the touch of raised dots. “Braille” is a love song, and they say that “love is blind,” right? (laughs) I had this phrase “reading a body in braille” in my head for some time, and the song ended up being built around that. It talks about a passion that blinds us, about irrational desire and the intimacy of giving our body to someone, willing for the other person to “read” it… to read us.”
Mariana Aleixo tells us that “it speaks of longing, it speaks of desire, it speaks of conquest, it speaks of passion. It’s a theme that follows my previous releases, and it talks about one of the phases of this process of love and heartbreak. The charm, the surrender, the frustration, the disappointment, and the overcoming. “Braille” speaks about surrender, about the willingness to give ourselves to someone… I am an incurable romantic!”
