Bronze in the 50 km March in the European Cup for João Vieira
João Vieira was third in the European Athletic March Cup when he won bronze and his third best ever.
The race began at 08:00 local time, the national record-breaking athlete started cautiously, and at 10kms it was 16th, and at 20 km, sixth, and at 43 he was third.
Keeping himself in the fight for the medals until the end, he finished the race with a time of 3: 46.28 hours, and achieved the minimums for the World Cups in Doha 2019 and for the Olympic Games in Tokyo2020.
Yohann Diniz was the world record holder, with a time of 3: 37.43, a new record of the race, the second was Dzimitry Dziubin with 3: 45.51 hours.
