Finnish bands Rotten Sound, known for grindcore, and death/grind masters Brujeria opened yesterday for death metal legends Carcass at Music Station, which welcomed them with a packed house of fans, heading to Porto today.
Rotten Sound
Rotten Sound is a Finnish grindcore band that originated in Vaasa, Finland in 1993, recognized as one of the most intense bands in the Scandinavian death metal/grindcore scene. The band was founded by guitarist Mika Aalto and features vocalist Keijo Niinimaa, bassist Matti Raappana and drummer Sami Latva.
Some highlights of his discography are Under Pressure (1998), Drain (1999), Murderworks (2002), Exit (2005), Cycles (2008), Abuse to Suffer (2016) and Apocalypse (2023), which presents his grindcore sound. mind-blowing.
Rotten Sound features high-speed, chaotic, and abrasive music with scathing social and political commentary.
Brujeria
The American extreme metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1989, Brujeria, whose name “Brujeria” means “witchcraft” in Spanish. The band is known for its controversial and provocative themes, often singing about Satanism, anti-Christianity, sex, immigration, drug smuggling and politics. They operate under the identity of Mexican drug traffickers and have historically kept their identities hidden, adding to their mystique.
His discography includes Matando Güeros (1993), Corrida Odiada (1995), Brujerizmo (2000), Pocho Aztlán (2016) and Mexicano (2024).
Their intense live performances and distinctive images, often featuring Mexican cultural and political references, but also friendliness is part of the band, the vocalist even thanked and took selfies with fans.
Carcass
Carcass is a British extreme metal band formed in 1985 in Liverpool, England. They are pioneers of the grindcore and melodic death metal genres. The band initially started with a more grindcore style, releasing their debut album, Reek of Putrefaction in 1988.
In the early 1990s, Carcass shifted to a more melodic death metal sound, of which their 1993 album Heartwork is considered a classic of the genre.
The band broke up in 1996 due to various issues and retired in 2007. Since then, they have released albums such as Surgical Steel (2013) and Torn Arteries (2021). The current lineup includes guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker and Daniel Wilding on drums.
