The spokesman for the European Commission for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection praised Portugal’s “beautiful example”, which offered aid to Sweden and Greece to fight the fires raging in those countries.
Speaking to journalists, during a visit to the European Union Emergency Response Coordination Center in Brussels, Carlos Martin Ruiz de Gordejuela confirmed Portugal’s offer of aid to Greece, which on Tuesday sent two medium- amphibians to Sweden, explaining that the receipt of this is awaiting approval by the Greek authorities.
“There are a number of countries that have responded, among them Portugal, which have also contributed to the fires in Sweden. It is a great demonstration of solidarity. I think we can give an example of solidarity: when a country needs, when it can help, help. In this case, Portugal is a beautiful example, “said the community spokesman.
