Bubista is the new leader of the Cape Verdean national football team

Pedro Leitão, known in the football world as Bubista, was presented today as the new coach of Cape Verde.

Bubista was a player of the national team that has been, until 2005, the “most international ever”, with 28 caps.

The new coach of the national football team, represented Cape Verde for 11 consecutive years as national captain, having won the Amílcar Cabral Cup in 2000.

He was distinguished as the best coach in São Vicente, at the regional sports gala, and the best coach in Cape Verde, at the national gala of Cape Verdean sport.

In addition, he was a regional and national champion and trained teams such as Académica do Mindelo, CS Mindelense, Sporting da Praia and Batuque de São Vicente.

As a player, he was junior champion, regional champion in São Vicente, champion of the São Vicente Cup.

He was a professional player at Badajoz in Spain and at ASA in Angola where he was captain and Angolan champion.

Bubista replaces Portuguese coach Rui Águas, who left the national team in December 2019.

The Cape Verdean team is currently competing for the qualification for CAN2021 and is in the third place of its group.
