The Burning of the Ribbons of Coimbra starts today with the Monumental Serenade in the Old Cathedral, followed by eight nights of concerts in Praça da Canção, where 2manydjs, Dino D ‘Santiago and Captain Fausto perform among others.
The organization of Queima das Fitas bet on a schedule for the nights at Praça da Canção, which privileges national artists and takes to the stage names like Expensive Soul (Saturday), Dino D ‘Santiago (Tuesday) or Captain Fausto (May 9).
The poster features two days dedicated to Portuguese publishers, Think Music (ProfJam, Mike El Nite and SippinPurpp & Yuzi) and Bridgetown (Plutonio and Mishlawi) on Friday and May 8, respectively, and a day dedicated entirely to Fado Section of the Academic Association of Coimbra.
The event also hosts the Belgian 2manydjs (May 9) and ends at 10, with the opening of doors earlier (between 4:00 pm and 5:00 p.m.) for a ‘sunset’, with night party inside to the sound of “Revenge of the 90’s “.
The organization also decided to move ahead with some measures to make Queima das Fitas more environmentally friendly, and in the procession, which takes place on Sunday, all parade cars will have bags to recycle the various types of wast told the secretary general of Queima das Fitas, João Oliveira, referring that the measure seeks mainly to tackle the problem of beer cans that always end up on the floor.
In a partnership with ERSUC – Solid Waste Center, there will be two collection points for the bags, one in Republic Square, midway, and another in the car dismantling area, he said.
In Praça da Canção, reusable beer glasses will be reused, and in the tents, there will be fixed points to collect disposable plastic cups, he said, noting that, at the entrance to Queimódromo, there will be a sign with a message against violence in the relationship.
