C. Tangana and Foals, the stars of Super Bock Super Rock’22

Even with drastic changes at the last minute, the 26th edition of Super Bock Super Rock was a success

2022 marked the long-awaited return of the Super Bock Super Rock summer festival to Herdade do Cabeço da Flauta, next to Praia do Meco, in Sesimbra, on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of July, with a Warm-up on the 13th of July. Unfortunately, due to the high temperatures and high risk of fire in the usual venue, the organization, for the good and safety of all, changed the location of the festival to the Altice Arena in Parque das Nações, in Lisbon, keeping the same dates, but losing the Warm-up on the 13th of July.

The festival had 4 stages: the Super Bock Stage, located in the arena, the EDP Stage and the Somersby Stage, both in the Sala Tejo, and the LG Stage by Rádio SBSR.FM, located outside.

On the first day, the headliners were ASAP Rocky, Flume, T-REX, Metronomy, and Leon Bridges, who performed on the Super Bock Stage.

Sala Tejo opened at 5:35 pm where Working Men’s Club, Los Bitchos, Hinos, and Sports Team performed on Stage EDP, and David and Miguel and Digitalism DJ Set performed on Stage Somersby. Luís Fernandes, Conjunto Cuca Monga, Fred and Jungle DJ Set performed on the LG Stage by Rádio SBSR.FM.

The second day of the festival hosted one of the best concerts of the festival, by C. Tangana, where we experienced an energetic atmosphere and excellent music to which the public completely surrendered and wanted more. Also on the main stage, Cosmo’s Midnight, Nathy Peluso and Hot Chip performed.

The EDP Stage opened at 5pm with Baba Ali and then Samuel Úria, Silva and Goldlink, on the LG Stage by Radio SBSR passed Ecto Pluma, Pedro de Tróia, Classe Cruna, Benji Price and Rui Vargas, and the Somersby Stage hosted Capicua, Daft Punk live and Dofi Tukker DJ Set.

(Dababy also gave a performance that was for us the worst of the festival, after almost 50 minutes of waiting and another 45 minutes of mediocre music).

July 16th, the last, was for many the best day of the festival with the surprising performance of the Foals on the main stage, where also performed Local Natives, Mayra Andrade, Capitão Fausto with conductor Martim Sousa Tavares and ended with a concert by Jamie XX, which started at 00:45.

The EDP Stage hosted Ganso, Declan Mckenna, Son Lux, and Woodkid, and the Somersby Stage hosted Lhast, Foals DJ Set, and Claptone, both at Sala Tejo. On the outdoor stage, LG by Radio SBSR performed Metamito, Golden Slumbers, Lura, and Filipe Karlsson.

Even with the drastic but necessary changes, at the last minute, the festival was a success, with a lot of good music, which brought together the effort, dedication, and resilience of the hundreds of people involved and that will undoubtedly stay in the memory of all those who passed through there.
