Café Curto marks 200 sessions with special celebration
The weekly showcase series, which takes place at the Café Concerto of the Convento São Francisco, curated by Blue House and co-produced by the Divisão do Convento São Francisco, and financed by the Coimbra City Council, celebrates 200 sessions with a special edition included in the Festival Santos da Casa.
On May 13, Blue House marks a symbolic milestone: the 200th session of Café Curto. The moment will be celebrated with a special edition included in the Festival Santos da Casa, which proposes a unique format — a “Conversation-Concert” starring the artist Yosune and the radio host Fausto Silva, a partner in this series, a voice always present in the promotion of new Portuguese music and an essential figure at Rádio Universidade de Coimbra, which is celebrating 42 years of radio activity.
In this Café Curto #200, Venezuelan artist Yosune — who has lived in Portugal since 2017 — will perform songs from her most recent work Madre Tierra, an album produced by Quico Serrano that celebrates life, inner freedom and connection with the motherland. The concert will be intertwined with an informal conversation led by Fausto Silva, in a fluid format that will last approximately 60 minutes — twice the usual duration of Café Curto — creating a space for sharing words and music.
This special event will also be the symbolic closing of the 2025 edition of the Santos da Casa Festival, an initiative with which Café Curto maintains regular collaboration.
Café Duplo expansion marks the month of May
May is also a month of expansion. On May 28, Café Duplo will arrive for the first time at the Teatro Municipal de Ourém, reinforcing the project’s presence in other territories and promoting new synergies, in this case also with the Albardeira Association. The following day, on May 29, the series returns to the Teatro Municipal de Bragança, where the collaboration with the Dedos Biônicos structure continues.
The May edition of Café Duplo brings together two percussionists whose artistic practice is anchored in rhythm as a universal language: Iúri Oliveira, a multifaceted musician with an international career and collaborations with names such as The Cinematic Orchestra, Lura or Branko, and Daniela Antunes, an artist from Ourém who combines percussion, singing and sensory expression in a deeply sensitive and performative approach.
