Seixal City Council promotes the Rotas de Abril initiative
Tours and visits to emblematic places are part of the program
Seixal City Council is promoting the Rotas de Abril initiative, which consists of tours and visits, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974.
According to Paulo Silva, president of the Seixal Municipal Council, «The walks, whether pedestrian or on the Tagus River, or even passing through symbolic places in the municipality are all ways of paying homage to April and its ideals of freedom and deepening knowledge about the diverse themes and subjects».
All tours are free, but subject to prior registration (done online), with a limit of six people per registration. After registering for the tours, if it is impossible to attend, it is necessary to inform the local authority service as far in advance as possible, so that other interested parties can participate. The running of the tours is dependent on weather conditions, so they may be cancelled if adverse weather conditions are expected.
Calendar of remaining initiatives:
April 27th, Saturday, from 2 to 5 pm
- Walking tour in the old urban centre of Seixal, with a visit to Quinta da Fidalga and the Seixal Urban Park
- Meeting point: Seixal Municipal Tourism Office (Rua Sociedade União Seixalense, n.º 5, Seixal)
April 28th, Sunday, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm
- Visit Espaço Memória – Typografia Popular do Seixal and ride on a traditional Tagus boat
- Meeting point: Seixal Municipal Tourism Office (Rua Sociedade União Seixalense, n.º 5, Seixal)
