An initiative within the scope of the international campaign Love Your Stuff for Longer” united solidarity with sustainability, it ran from 20 November to 6 January, within the framework of the Christmas season.

MAR Shopping Algarve managed to raise 5,339 garments and accessories for women, men and children. The pieces, which are in good condition and duly sorted, were delivered to five social solidarity institutions in the municipalities of Loulé and Faro, namely G.A.T.O. – Housing First Project, Portuguese Red Cross – Loulé-Faro, Victim Support Association – Loulé, CASA – Support Center for the Homeless and Aboim Ascensão Shelter.

Visitors to MAR Shopping Algarve were invited to donate items of clothing or shoes that they had in their closets but were not using. A way to raise awareness of the need to give a second life to pieces that are no longer used, helping those who need it most.

The campaign even benefited from a very strong community spirit, among the visitors who donated the pieces, MAR Shopping Algarve, which designed the action and implemented it logistically, and Bedriven, the transport company, which was available to support the initiative, ensuring the collection and delivery of donations to institutions.

The initiative took place within the scope of an international campaign

It is recalled that Ingka Centres, a global shopping centre manager, which, in Portugal, operates the shopping centres MAR Shopping Algarve and MAR Shopping Matosinhos, launched the global campaign “Love Your Stuff For Longer” with the aim of promoting a more conscious and sustainable lifestyle, which has been marked with several actions in the shopping centres operating in Europe and Russia.

The campaign marked the start of a year in which Ingka shopping centres, which are part of the Ingka Group, such as IKEA Retail and Ingka Investments, will continuously develop actions to promote sustainability. Together with IKEA stores, Ingka Centers aims for the next decade to inspire and enable a billion people to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, contributing to the preservation of the planet.
