Registration for the 10th Small Format Painting Biennial – Joaquim Afonso Madeira Prize takes place from March 1st to 31st. This initiative, organized by the Moita City Council, Alhos Vedros Parish Council and CACAV – Alhos Vedros Cultural Animation Circle, aims to be an incentive to artistic creation, in the field of painting, by supporting artists, in the valorization of their work and meeting it with the community.
The 10th Small Format Painting Biennial – Joaquim Afonso Madeira Prize is open to all artists residing in Portugal. Each competitor may submit only one original work, in the painting mode, with a free theme, which has never been presented at this Biennial. The works must have a maximum dimension of 330mmx 240mm and a maximum of 5 cm of frame.
The Jury will consist of five elements: one appointed by the Moita City Council, one by the Alhos Vedros Parish Council, one by the CACAV – Alhos Vedros Cultural Animation Circle and two professional elements from the Fine Arts or of recognized artistic merit. The selected and award-winning works will be on display, from July 3 to August 1, at the Arts and Crafts Factory (FAVO), in Alhos Vedros.
The Joaquim Afonso Madeira Prize is awarded by the Municipality of Moita and is worth 1,000 euros. The Revelation Prize, in the amount of 350 euros, is awarded by the Parish Council of Alhos Vedros.
It is recalled that, in 2019, Pedro Espanhol was the winner of the IX Small Format Painting Biennial – Joaquim Afonso Madeira Prize, with the work “Backsider # 3”.
