Cante alentejano, fado and jazz are some of the proposals of animation, this month, in the main bathing areas of Odemira, on the Alentejo coast, to welcome the thousands of tourists who choose the area for holidays.
“We feel the need to provide a cultural component to an audience that is increasingly demanding access to a cultural program that differentiates the territory,” explained Deolinda Seno Luís, a councilor in Odemira City Hall, in the Beja district.
Among the cultural and artistic proposals that will liven up the summer nights, there are also traditional music, folklore and theater performances in Almograve, Milfontes and Zambujeira do Mar.
“This program brings people together with the dynamics of local communities and their cultural heritage, as well as being a means of promoting and disseminating local actors who, throughout the year, promote artistic expressions in different areas”, added the mayor .
By the end of this month, the program also offers a Master Class of Latin Dance, a Meeting of Theater and Street Animations (ESTAR), Robertos Theater and performances by choral groups, in a “wide exhibition of cultural production of the county and region “.
The program ‘Animar o Verão’, which runs in the third edition, privileges, according to the mayor, the weekend nights “with cultural proposals” in the three localities and “a surprising offer to keep the visitor’s interest” at a time of greater affluence of tourists to the Alentejo coast.
“This year we have a large influx of tourists and during the month of August we have a faithful audience that seeks the tranquility of our beaches and the Natural Park, trying to escape to the Algarve,” said Deolinda Seno Luís, predicting that the number of tourists ” triple “in the region.
