Portugal’s Hideaways: Bordeira

Come and visit Bordeira, a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Aljezur

One of the main points of Bordeira is the beach, known as Praia da Carrapateira, due to its proximity to Carrapateira, and because it is also the mouth of the Ribeira with the same name, where you can do the journey on foot or by bicycle of just 11km.

In this area, after a visit to the towns of Bordeira and Carrapateira, there is nothing like going towards the beach and from there take the road from Estrada da Praia to Praia do Amado. It is advisable to leave the car and opt for a bicycle or to make the journey on foot, as it is a 3.5 km walk, with stunning and picturesque landscapes, with walkways with viewpoints that allow visitors to take a break.

It is in this section that we truly begin to feel the Costa Vicentina, where rock and sea tend to be more austere and bring us a little of the smells of Cabo de S. Vicente.

After Praia da Bordeira, Praia da Zimbreirinha appears, and it is here that the doors open to a new world, to the entire exponent of the Costa Vicentina and to a charmingly inhospitable place. In the distance we can still observe the Arrifana, as if the landscape insisted on keeping such a beautiful place before our eyes.
