Discover Piódão, a village in the Serra do Açor, Beira Litoral
As we travel through the Serra do Açor, at the same time that we are enchanted by the majestic and pure aspect of the landscape, curiosity, and impatience invade us. Piódão insists on staying hidden to unexpectedly dazzle with its architecture, which so well exemplifies the ability we have to harmoniously adapt to the most inhospitable and also the most sublime places. As if it were a crib, the houses are distributed around the terraces, in which the blue and the schist punctuate, between winding and narrow alleys, which in each corner hide the history of the Historic Village of Piódão.
The population that lives and settled here since the 15th century still grazes their herds, scatters the grain on the community site near the Eira, climbs the narrow sidewalk, which recalls medieval times and produces the flavors of the land, namely chestnut and honey brandy. You have to taste them and take them home!
Visit this village and feel part of this hospitable population. And if it is in the summer, enjoy and take a dip in the pleasant river beach.
