Cape Verde: Gracelino Barbosa is the champion of the 60 meters freestyle

Cape Verdean international Paralympic athlete Gracelino Barbosa won this Wednesday, the title of champion of the World of the 60 meters freestyle, in the city of Tórun, Italy, with the time of seven seconds and 25 hundredths.

In his first reaction to this victory, Gracelino Barbosa told Inforpress that he is “very happy” to win this gold medal, claiming that “it was a bit complicated”, as he was stuck in the blocks, to the point of being the last athlete to leave.

“Due to the will and determination to reach the goal, I ended up cutting the goal first, by pushing the shoulder line and I feel super happy”, explained Barbosa, who shared the podium with a Spaniard (second) and a Portuguese.

This Thursday, Gracelino Barbosa will compete in the final of the 60 meters hurdles, a modality in which he holds the record for the Mute of the T-20 and for which he won the bronze medal at the Paralympic Games in Rio’2016.
