10 years after its launch, the album ‘Pura Clariade’ has a reinterpretation by Carla Visi. Live on April 28 at the UCCLA space at Casa América Latina at 8 pm.
But what is the album Pura Claridade edited by Carla Visi in 2013 through Sony Music? It is a tribute album to Clara Nunes, from Minas Gerais, who disappeared in 1983, a Brazilian singer and songwriter, considered one of the greatest and best performers in the country. Researcher of Brazilian popular music, its rhythms and folklore, she traveled to many countries representing the culture of Brazil and was the first female artist to sell more than 100,000 records.
On the album Pura Claridade, Carla Visi reinterprets 15 songs from Carla Nunes’ career and honors the singer with two songs: ‘Mineira’ and ‘Um Ser de Luz’. The first was recorded by João Nogueira in the 1970s and the second song was performed by Alcione after Clara died in 1983. On this album, which features arrangements by Rildo Hora, Jota Moraes, Pezinho, Didi Pinheiro and Izaias Marcelo (who also signs the production), Paula Fernandes, Thiaguinho, Péricles, Xande de Pilares, and Daniela Mercury also participated.
