Carlos Bica Quarteto performs in Seixal to mark International Jazz Day

The Municipal Auditorium of the Seixal Cultural Forum will host, on May 4th (Saturday), at 9:30 pm, the show Carlos Bica Quarteto, as a way of marking International Jazz Day.
Double bassist and composer Carlos Bica is a reference in the European jazz scene and has in the trio Azul, with guitarist Frank Möbus and drummer Jim Black, one of his trademarks, in addition to his collaborations in the areas of theatre, dance and cinema, among other projects, such as Diz, Single, Matéria-Prima, I Am The Escaped One and, also, the recent Playing with Beethoven, nominated by the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik for one of the best albums of 2023.
Paulo Silva, president of Seixal City Council, states that «the presence of Carlos Bica Quarteto in our municipality, for another show that is expected to be of enormous quality, is a demonstration that jazz is indeed highly appreciated in the municipality, and that We should continue to invest in this aspect of music, as we have been doing with the organization of SeixalJazz, a festival of great reference that brings great names in national and international jazz to the municipality».
For this project, Carlos Bica invited saxophonist José Soares, vibraphonist Eduardo Cardinho and guitarist Gonçalo Neto, a new generation of talented and creative Portuguese musicians, most of whom have appeared on several SeixalJazz posters. On the eve of entering the studio, the double bassist and composer presents a repertoire with new compositions that will appear on the new album to be released by Clean Feed Records.
