Carluz Belo, today fulfills the dream of a decade: the edition of his debut album ‘Menino da Praia’. After a series of edited singles, the album MENINO DA PRAIA finally arrives in stores, edited with the support of SPA [Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores].
In the words of Carluz “the album features a series of songs that, together with the themes already released, complete an alignment in 12 chapters, on a journey through some of my emotional territories. It is an album with surviving melodies for more than a decade and that not even a pandemic can stop.”
According to the artist “the whole composition process was very involved in contact with nature and almost all the themes fit in a kind of interior season, within the soul. There are walks by the sea, loves and disenchantment, colorful childhoods, forests mystics, and fluttering birds… Listening to this album today is the best way to get to know me as a musician and as a human being.”
Carluz Belo reveals that “there is a musical matrix in me that was born in the 80s, with emphasis on the works of Lena d’Água, António Variações, Eurovision melodies, children’s songs – all of this marked me very much as a kid. Over the years, there are countless artists and works that have inspired me with great intensity: Kate Bush, Sufjan Stevens, Marisa Monte, Rufus Wainwright… But the band that really made me want to be a musician 100% was the Brazilian Legião Urbana.”
‘Menino da Praia’ has the support of Fundo Cultural SPA. A rare case, since “only works by new authors are chosen exceptionally, when the quality and relevance of the projects justify it. It is a recognition of which I am very proud”, explains Carluz Belo.
